About this bag
The Capucines takes its name from Rue Neuve-des-Capucines in Paris, where Louis Vuitton opened his first store in 1854. Unlike the canvas classics, it is a leather bag first: full-grain Taurillon leather, a flap carrying the LV initials, a top handle and a shoulder strap. Sizes run from the Mini and the BB upwards, and colours and finishes change from season to season. New, it is sold in Louis Vuitton stores, on the brand's website and through 24S, the only authorised third-party seller. Because it belongs to the house's leather range rather than its canvas core, the preloved market is smaller and more varied than for a Neverfull or a Speedy, so the samples behind this page can be thinner.
Questions
Where is the Capucines sold new?
In Louis Vuitton stores and on louisvuitton.com, and through 24S, the LVMH-owned retailer that is the only authorised third-party seller. The New table above shows the boutique reference price with its source and date, and any 24S offer that ships to your country.
What should I look for in a preloved Capucines?
Each listing carries a grade: New with tags, Excellent, Very good, Good or Fair. Taurillon resists light scratches, but the corners, the edges of the flap and the top handle still show use, and pale colours can pick up dye transfer from clothing. Check the LV initials on the flap for scratches and make sure the shoulder strap, dust bag and receipt are included.
What drives the Capucines' resale value?
Colour and size first: neutral shades in the smaller sizes tend to find buyers more easily than bold seasonal colours. After that, leather condition at the corners and handle, the state of the hardware and completeness. Because fewer examples are listed than for the canvas bags, single listings can move the median, so check the sample size shown with each score.
How is the Capucines' true cost worked out?
We subtract the expected resale value of an Excellent Capucines from the best new price in your market. Expected resale applies the median asking price of Excellent-or-better listings across the EU in the last 90 days to the German retail reference. It appears as a three-year total and per year, never as a forecast, and stays hidden below 10 listings.
