On today's asking prices this bag lists for more preloved than it costs new, so the true cost is below zero. An asking price is not a sale.
True cost is the price minus what one in excellent condition is listed for today. We do not age that figure, so it flatters very long ownership.

About this bag
The Herbag pairs a canvas body with a leather flap and a Kelly-style closure, which makes it lighter than the all-leather Hermès bags. Herbag Zip versions have interchangeable bodies, so one leather top can be combined with different canvas bags. It is sold in Hermès boutiques and can appear on hermes.com at times, depending on market and stock. The New section shows the boutique price we have recorded, with its source and date; Hermès does not sell through retailers, so there is no shop link. As a canvas bag, its preloved price depends strongly on the state of the fabric and its edges, as well as on the colour combination, the size, wear on the leather trim and whether box, dust bag and any extra bodies are included.
Questions
Where can I buy a Hermès Herbag new?
In Hermès boutiques, and at times on hermes.com, depending on market and stock. No other retailer sells it new. The New section shows the boutique price we have recorded for your market, with its source and date.
What should I check on a preloved Herbag?
We grade listings New with tags, Excellent, Very good, Good or Fair. On a Herbag, look for stains and wear on the canvas, fraying at the corners and base, and scuffs on the leather flap and handle. For a Herbag Zip, note how many bodies are included. Box and dust bag help. The Preloved section lists the cheapest offer per grade.
What drives the resale value of the Herbag?
The condition of the canvas matters most, because stains and frayed edges are difficult to repair. Colour combination, size and the state of the leather trim come next, and extra interchangeable bodies add to a listing. The retention score on this page shows how current EU asking prices compare with the boutique price.
What does the true cost of a Herbag mean?
It is what owning one costs once you resell it: the best new price in your market minus the expected resale value of an Excellent-condition Herbag. That value is the median asking price of Excellent-or-better EU listings over 90 days, relative to the German boutique price, shown for three years and per year. Historical asking prices only.
