About this bag
The Book Tote was introduced in 2018 under Maria Grazia Chiuri, and its embroidered surfaces have made it a regular sight in Dior's boutiques ever since. It is an open, rectangular tote made from embroidered canvas, with the Dior Oblique pattern as the signature and many other motifs appearing season by season. Sizes include the Mini, Small, Medium and Large, and Dior offers personalisation with embroidered initials or names. New, it is sold only in Dior boutiques and through Dior's own online store where it operates, so the New section shows the boutique price with source and date. Preloved, the embroidery is its most delicate part: snags, pulled threads and dirt at the base are the first things buyers look for.
Questions
Where is the Dior Book Tote sold new?
Only by Dior, in its boutiques and through its own online store in the countries where it operates. It is not sold by multi-brand retailers, so the New section above shows the boutique price with its source and date instead of a retailer offer.
What should I check when buying a preloved Book Tote?
Listings carry one of five grades: New with tags, Excellent, Very good, Good or Fair. Look at the embroidery for snags and pulled threads, the base and corners for dirt and fraying, and the handles for wear on their edges. An open tote also gathers marks inside. Personalised examples should be clearly described in the listing.
What drives the Book Tote's resale value?
Motif and size are the starting point: Dior Oblique is the most widely traded, while seasonal designs depend on how much demand they keep. Personalisation narrows the pool of buyers, so a bag with someone else's initials usually draws less interest. Embroidery damage and a soiled base lower asking prices, as the Preloved section shows by grade.
How is the Book Tote's true cost calculated?
From the best new price in your market we subtract the expected resale value of an Excellent Book Tote. We estimate it from the median EU asking price of Excellent-or-better listings over the past 90 days, as a share of the German retail reference. You get a three-year total and a yearly figure, and nothing at all when fewer than 10 listings exist.
